This chair makes flexible working easier than ever, thanks to intelligent engineering and human centred design.

In this new age of hybrid working, the days of designated desks may be behind us. And while many of us relish in the flexibility that comes with this shift, we need design that can help us work well, wherever we may be. When it comes to the workplace, the rise of hot desking has meant a growing demand for office furniture that supports this change, with height-adjustable tables and modular designs examples of concepts that allow multiple people to share the same area at any given time.
Task chairs – long the pinnacle of the workplace typology – have been more difficult to bring into this fold, with even the most exceptional of models needing to be fiddled with and corrected as different people require use of them. Recognising this, Dauphin have released an all-new product that is designed to be intuitive and responsive, with world-class engineering creating a one-size-fits-all chair that feels like it’s been crafted specifically for you.
The Indeed Automatic
Introducing the Indeed Automatic, a functional, beautiful task chair that is designed to facilitate flexible working environments. Pioneered by one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of office furniture and available in Australia through Innerspace, the chair intuitively adjusts to each user’s weight, ensuring personalised support and comfort even in a shared-use product.
Much of the chair’s intelligence comes from Dauphin’s innovative Motionflex®-Automatic technology that generates counterforce automatically from within the material. This counterforce is embedded in a minimal, slat-like design and enables the chair’s structure and movement to adjust with the user, working in symbiosis to allow for freedom and ergonomic support. Two elastic plastic lamellas ensure additional fine-tuning, enabling taller than average users to effortlessly pre-select the backrest counterpressure.
The design itself is not only responsive, but also informed by aesthetics, with the slim-line frame and soft tactile fabric combining to create a chair worthy of its recent “best of Design” award from the renowned German home interior magazine “Schöner Wohnen”. A flexibility in fabric finishes also enables the chair to work in spaces of all kinds, from standard blacks and whites for a minimalist finish, through to greens, blues, oranges, and reds for a visual statement.
A climate neutral chair
Not only does the Indeed Automatic respond to changing work cultures, it also addresses the increasing demands for products that are sustainable and circular, with sustainability embedded in the very core of the chair’s design process.
The sturdy, honeycomb-shaped design of the plastic parts reduces material usage and consequently the overall weight of Indeed Automatic, conserving resources and cutting carbon emissions. Minimal material usage in packaging adds to this reduction, while local sourcing also lowers the embodied carbon of air miles and transnational manufacturing.
While the chair’s skeleton has been stripped back for a more conscious end-product, the fabric itself also contributes to better environmental outcomes, with the variety of plain and mélange colours made from 100% SEAQUAL® YARN. This recycled polyester is made with at least 10% recycled marine plastic, and enables Dauphin to support the SEAQUAL campaign to clean up the world’s oceans.
The result is a lightweight, easy-to-assemble product that not only actively contributes to making a better world, but also is simple to repair and disassemble for an extended and circular product life cycle. Any remaining emissions are also offset through a comprehensive climate project, giving the Indeed Automatic a much-sought after carbon-neutral status.
The Innerspace Difference

Designed by Dauphin and available through Innerspace, the chair epitomises the ethos of both brands, and their commitment to creating holistic, considered products that elevate the human experience.
